Volgograd oil refinery: explosions and fire

Volgograd · Volgograd Oblast
Refineries / gas plants

The Lukoil-Volgogradneftepererabotka oil refinery was struck in Volgograd. The General Staff reported explosions and a fire on its premises. According to Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU), NASA’s FIRMS satellite system detected fire hotspots near the delayed coking unit and the ELOU-AVT-1 and ELOU-AVT-5 crude distillation units. The precise equipment damaged has not yet been identified.

There is no separate confirmation of a strike on the nearby Kaustik chemical plant.

Samara oil dispatch station and pumping facilities hit

Prosvet · Samara Oblast
Oil pumping stations

Ukrainian forces struck the Samara oil dispatch station near Prosvet in Samara Oblast. The General Staff reported a fire on the site. The SBU said drones from its Alpha special operations centre acted alongside other Ukrainian units and also named the Samara-1 and Samara-2 pumping stations among the targets hit.

The Samara hub receives, stores and blends crude oil delivered by major pipelines before onward transport. The effects on its operations are still being assessed.

EffectsFire at the oil hub; the SBU also identified the Samara-1 and Samara-2 pumping stations.
03

Krasnozavodsk chemical plant: an incident on 1 October

Krasnozavodsk · Moscow Oblast
Industrial incident outside the strike count

Further reports indicate that an explosion on the grounds of the Krasnozavodsk chemical plant caused one workshop to collapse. This concerns an incident on 1 October, not another strike on 2 October. The cause and any Ukrainian involvement have not been established, so the plant is not included in the long-range strike statistics.

2 October strike report: what is counted

Demilitarizator records two strike events: the Volgograd oil refinery and the Samara oil dispatch station. Samara-1 and Samara-2 are described within the strike on the oil hub and are not counted separately. Neither Kaustik nor the Krasnozavodsk chemical plant has been added.

The running total is at least 838 strikes in 2026, including at least two in October.
