Strike on the Slavneft-YANOS refinery in Yaroslavl

Yaroslavl · Yaroslavl Oblast · overnight into 3 November 2026
Refineries / gas plants

Explosions were heard in Yaroslavl during the night of 3 November. A fire broke out on the refinery’s premises after the attack.

Slavneft-YANOS, whose full name is Slavneft-Yaroslavnefteorgsintez, is one of Russia’s largest oil refineries. The plant processes around 15 million tonnes of crude oil a year, producing petrol, diesel, aviation fuel and lubricants.

Such plants matter to Russian military logistics because the armed forces need refined products: fuel for aircraft, vehicles and armoured equipment. Crude oil production alone cannot meet those needs.
